After the overwhelming success of last year’s pilot ARTIST DEVELOPMENT DAY, we are delighted to be holding one again on the 9th of March.
This is a unique opportunity to learn how to take your music further...
It is your chance to mingle with industry professionals and get all the information you need on promoting your band, legal issues, funding, getting gigs, developing social media and more!
Among our guests will be representatives from Music Union, Arts Council England and PRS. We have also gathered marketing specialists, web designers and promo photographers.
This event is totally FREE and you are welcome to spend as long or as little as you like and have an informal chat with our selection of music industry professionals.

The Arts Council fund arts activities that engage people in England, or that help artists and arts organisations carry out their work. Huey has been working at Arts Council England for 5 years and offers valuable funding advice to musicians, artists and organisations.

Alex Mann – Musicians Union
Alex Mann is the London Regional Officer for the Musicians’ Union. The MU is a globally-respected organisation which represents over 30,000 musicians working in all sectors of the music business.
As well as negotiating on behalf of musicians with all the major employers in the industry, the MU offers a range of services tailored for the self-employed by providing assistance for professional and student musicians of all ages. Such issues can range from copyright protection to valuable contractual advice or from the recovery of unpaid fees to crucial work in health and safety.

Neil Cartwright – The Artist Network / Million Media

Luca Gatti – Green Queen Music
Although he won’t be there on the day Luca has sent through some great information to share with you on ‘The Music Business workshop’. The workshop is aimed at anyone who is interested in making a living from music in the 21st Century. Times are changing and new opportunities are emerging as the digital era unfolds. To make the most of them you will need a solid grasp of record deals, publishing and contracts, plus new business models incorporating 360 deals, new media and digital distribution. Chris Tofu and Sophie Cammack – Continental Drifts
Chris Tofu the legendry Festival Organiser, booker, DJ and Continental Drifts Director has been in this industry for 20 years plus. Having been a vital part of many festivals over the years he has a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Senior music manager Sophie Cammack has been project manager for Global Local for 6 years and has worked with some of the best new and emerging artists all over the UK and the World.
Joe Buirski – Two For Joy
Two For Joy is the offspring of The Magpie's Nest, a new wave folk and acoustic club, the brainchild of Joe Buirski and Sam Lee, both were dissatisfied with the lack of folk clubs in London catering to a younger audience. This organisation sets out to showcase the entire spectrum of the folk music genre in a fresh way.
Joe runs a very successful Magpies Nest residency at The Queens Head and has organised tours across the UK. Magpies Nest was winner of the BBC Best Folk Club of the year.
Cal Simpson – Movimientos
Movimientos aims to broaden conceptions of Latin music beyond the mainstream genres by representing the Latin and UK artists and acts who are striving to create exciting fusions of music - from folkloric roots to cutting edge electronic music.
Cal promotes at numerous high profile across London Inc Notting Hill Arts Club, Passing Clouds and Rich Mix and has recently won the LUKAS award for Promotion Company of the year.
Andre Marmot – Wormfood
New African music has suddenly exploded across the world of popular music in ways few could have predicted. There is a new wave of African music taking the traditions to a thousand different places and creating an education for a whole new generation.
Andre is the uber successful promoter behind Wormfood, responsible for much of the programming at the official No.1 Live Music Venue in London, Hootananny Brixton, including the weekly Sunday ‘Rootmaster’ world music night, as well as Valley of the Antics at Secret Garden Party and events around the country.
Ben Ryan – Blue Lotus Music Group
Showcasing the influence of reggae on UK music through live performances and sound systems vibes - Highlighting the huge impact Jamaican culture has had on UK sounds like Dub Step, Jungle/Drum & Bass, Grime and much more. Expect to see some established artists alongside the acts of the future.
Seb Merrick – Kazum
Kazum is an independent promotions and live music agency based in London who have put on some of the most legendry shows. They also provide artist management, event booking, consultancy, and publicity services.
